Small notes, a longer view

A lightweight template for keeping track of questions, progress, and the next thing to learn.

This is a sample career and learning post. Use it as a template for your own reflections.

A weekly learning note

A learning log can be a few sentences rather than a polished essay. The useful part is recording enough context that the note still makes sense when you return to it.

Try starting with these prompts:

  1. What question did I spend time on this week?
  2. What do I understand now that I did not understand before?
  3. What evidence changed my mind?
  4. What am I still unsure about?
  5. What is one small next step?

Make the note useful later

Include a link to a source, a diagram, or a worked example. Write down the assumptions that mattered. If a note comes from professional work, choose examples and details that you are free to share.

Return and revise

Revisit an old note when your understanding changes. Add a dated update explaining what you would now describe differently. The progression can become a useful record of how your thinking developed.
